Series Review: The Gray Man Series(#2-11) - Mark Greaney
I recently read the first book in the Gray Man series by Mark Greaney after I saw the trailer for the upcoming Netflix movie of the same name. You can find the review for the first book here. This will be a brief review of the rest of the series (a total of 11 books out so far). It’s safe to say I quite liked the series based on the speed with which I ploughed through them.
Books 2-11 of the series start off with Courtland Gentry recovering from the aftermath of the events of book 1. There's plenty of action to go around. Each book throws our protagonist into varying situations across the world against almost every intelligence organization out there. While one could read these books individually it’s best to read them in order to understand the greater continuity of the story and characters’ arcs. During the course of these books, we'll encounter familiar faces, death-defying situations, political intrigue, and internal conflicts that all result in the Gray Man being thrown into one crazy situation after the next. While most of these books stick to the familiar action-thriller trope that has been done to death, I still enjoyed them regardless.
These books were easy to follow, fun to read, and entertaining to boot. They're quite fast-paced and there was hardly a time where I felt 'bored' with a slightly slower storyline. As mentioned earlier, fans of Jason Bourne, Jack Reacher, and the like will be able to draw similarities in the stories and the nature of some characters, but overall Courtland Gentry is a nice addition to this action-packed roster. Will definitely recommend the series to anyone looking for an action-thriller fix. Until next time!
